Sutton, Massachusetts is located
South central Massachusetts, borderd by Douglas and Uxbridge on the south,
Oxford on the west, Millbury on the north, Grafton on the northeast, Northbridge
on the east. Sutton is about 12 miles south of Worcester; 45 miles southwest of
Boston; 32 miles northwest of Providence, Rhode Island; and 176 miles from New
York City. Principal highways are State Route 122A and State Route 146 running
N.W.-S.E. between Worcester and Providence, Rhode Island. There is no freight rail service in Sutton, but the town has easy access to
the network of intermodal facilities serving Eastern Massachusetts and
Rhode Island.
|
| Sutton is a rural, residential community with much open space. Several
farms still are active, producing sheep and breeding heifers as well as a
great variety of vegetable for market. The town has three large lakes
offering year-round recreation.
Although the cost of educating each pupil is well below the state average,
the quality of education delivered by the school is quite high. Having
just completed a $10 million school addition project, the facilities are
the newest and most up-to-date available.
Sutton is in a prime location for commuting to Worcester, Boston or
Providence. With the opening of the Massachusetts Turnpike - Route 20,
Route 146 Interchange scheduled for late in this decade, Sutton expects to
be ripe for growth, both residential and commercial. |
