Southampton, Massachusetts is located
Western Massachusetts, bordered by Westhampton on the northwest, Easthampton on
the northeast, Holyoke on the east, Westfield on the south, and Montgomery and
Huntington on the west. Southampton is 17 miles northwest of Springfield and 100
miles west of Boston. The principal highway is State Route 10 running N-S. U.S.Routes 5 and 202
and Interstate 91 are easily accessible in Holyoke. There is no freight rail service in Southampton, but the network of
intermodal facilities serving Massachusetts is easily accessible.

| The Town of Southampton started out as a farming community and has retained
much of that atmosphere through the years, although there are few farms
left. The center of town is small and inconspicuous but with an increasing
population, there is more involvement in community functions.
Residents and guests have been proud to celebrate the Town's founding with
Old Home Days, which is celebrated with picnics, parades, history lessons,
children's story hour, art exhibits, car shows and dances. Previous
residents from all across the country visit occasionally to share their
stories and history to this three day annual community event.
The Southampton Youth Athletic Association provides involvement for youth
and gives them a sense of accomplishment outside the structures of the
school system. |
