The Saugus River forms part of the southeast border, and the Pines River forms the southern border; both join in an opening to the Atlantic Ocean. Saugus is 9 miles north of Boston, 23 miles southeast of Lowell, and 228 miles from New York City. Principal highways are U.S. Route 1 running N-S and State Routes 107 and 129. Commuter rail service to North Station, Boston, is available in the neighboring towns of Wakefield, Melrose, and Lynn. The MBTA Blue Line is accessible from Wonderland Station in Revere.
