Barnstable, Massachusetts is located Eastern Massachusetts, located on the "bicep" of the Cape Cod arm. Bordered by Cape Cod Bay on the north, Nantucket Sound on the south, Sandwich and Mashpee on the west, and Yarmouth on the east. Barnstable is 53 miles east of Fall River, 69 miles southeast of Boston, and 250 miles from New York City. Principal highways are U.S. Route 6 and State Routes 6A, 28, 132, and 149. Amtrak provides service to Hyannis from Memorial Day to Labor Day only; leaving Boston on Friday and returning to Boston from Hyannis on Sunday.
